Video: Note: NHK videos will be available on demand until 2 weeks after the end of the Basho. After that, they will be removed from the site. They are usually available for on demand viewing about 1 day after the matches. Note that "highlights" means complete full match video of all daily Makuuchi matches.

Chris Sumo missed Day 10 and 11. Instead he produced two videos on Hakuho
Japanese Sumo Association Youtube
JSA Youtube has offered 2 full matches on its Youtube channel. Hopefully they will do this every day. It is a live feed, no commentary, but it gives another perspective on these matches.
Kiribayama (M6w) entered the match at 7-3, one win away from Kachi-koshi (winning record). The 25 year old Rikishi began his career in May 2015. He reached Juryo (2nd Division--salaried) in March 2019 and Makuuchi (Top Division) in January 2020. In the 8 Basho since then he has been Kachi-koshi 4 times, with an overall record of 59-59-2. He has reached as high as M1e and one more win in this Basho will guarantee him his 4th consecutive Basho in the top half of Maegashira (rank and file). He has already punched his ticket to his 10th consecutive Makuuchi Basho. He has earned one special prize and not missed a match in his career, 344 matches so far.
For more on Ura see Day 10 post. He entered this match at 6-4 and is in the salmon belt.
2. Wakamotoharu (J3e--5-5) v Abi (J14e--7-3)--this is a Juryo (2nd Division) match. Kaisho begins on the right.
For more on Wakamotoharu see Day 10 blog post.
For more on Abi see Day 2 (for background), 4, 5, 7, and 8 Blog posts. After losing on Day 8, which broke his 20 match winning streak, Abi also lost on Days 9 and 10, throwing the Juryo Basho wide open. His win today moved him into a tie for 2nd place, one match behind the leaders. Abi begins on the right. Note that the calf brace that marked his first loss is still on.

Notable
Notable:
Another day, more of the same. Hakuho (Y1e) and Terunofuji (O1e) both won their 11th consecutive matches. Their closest pursuer, Kotonowaka (M11w) lost, while Ichinojo (M2w) and Hoshoryu (M5w) both won, leaving the three chasers at 8-3, 3 matches behind with 4 to contest. It is becoming more and more probable that Hakuho and Terunofuji will fight each other on the last day for the Basho to decide the Yusho (Championship) possibly for an undefeated Championship. Should Terunofuji finish with a Yusho or strong 2nd place (13 or 14 wins), it is likely he will be promoted to 73rd Yokozuna, the first Yokozuna promotion since Kisenosato (Japanese Sumo Association) in 2017.
Terunofuji won by Yorkiri (Frontal Force Out) for the 8th time, disposing of Mitakeumi (S1w) in less than 3 seconds. Hakuho crushed out Wakatakakage (K1e) after a 10 second battle.
Rookie Ichiyamamoto (M17e) lost his 2nd in a row in his search for Kachi-koshi (winning record). Now 7-4, he must win one of his last four matches to stay in Makuuchi (Top Division).
Maegeshira (rank and filers) fared a bit better against their san'yaku (Top Rank opponents) today, winning one of three. Hoshoryu's (M5w) win over Shodai (O2e) by Yoritaoshi (Frontal Crush Out) was the highlight, improving the young Maegashira to 2-0 v his betters. Overall Maegashira are now 14-38 (.269) against their betters. Hoshoryu and Ichinojo (5-3) are the only Maegeshira with winning records in this competition.
